      According to the Bureau of Labor, criminal justice career opportunities will be plentiful during the next twenty years. This program trains people to be police officers, commercial or retail security guards, and work in a variety of other criminal justice career areas. Many students in this program decide to pursue their education at a four-year college/university.
      Upon successful completion of this program, the student should be able to:
display the ethical standards of their chosen career;
explain the different segments of the criminal justice system and their 
       interrelationships;
appreciate the changes of society and the laws controlling society;
establish an effective environment that fosters growth in his/her chosen 
       profession;
adopt and produce positive solutions for various criminal justice 
       issues.

      Graduates of this program may choose to continue their education at a four-year college/university or they may decide to become employed in specialized fields of corrections in a county, state or federal facility.
      Upon successful completion of this program, the student should be able to:
show an understanding of various institutional treatment programs;
explain the different segments of the criminal justice system and their 
       interrelationships;
identify the various organizations in the field of corrections;
select and discuss techniques of counseling and explain counseling 
       processes and methods.

      Students enrolled in this program must successfully complete 30 general education credits within designated disciplines.

      The Security Officers Program is designed to provide students with the basic competencies needed to begin employment in the private security field. Experts predict that career opportunities in private security/criminal justice will be plentiful during the next twenty years. The curriculum is designed so students learn the fundamentals of private security industries standards.
      Upon successful completion of this program, a student should be able to:
identify specific concepts in the development of private security fields;
identify various types of employment in the private security field;
display the ethical standards of their chosen career;
appreciate the changes of society and the laws controlling society;
understand vicarious liability as it applies to the corporate setting;
adopt and produce positive solutions for various security issues;
successful complete written competency examination, when 
      approved, by the State Advisory Board on Security Officers in 
      the NJ Department of Law and Safety.

Developed as one of the first programs in the country, the Homeland
Security Certificate cirriculum is designed to prepare individuals for service in all levels of governement.  The program will introduce students to the basics of the criminal justice issues concerning antiterrorism at airports, deep draft ports and other important facilities.  Students will learn the important skills necessary to be successful in all areas of homeland security.
Upon successful completion of this program, the student should be able to

• Promote an understanding of Homeland Security
• Prepare officials in all areas of business and government to anticipate and respond to terroristic threats
• Prevent incidents to our homeland security
