Public Safety Management Major (BS) 
(124 semester credit hours) 

The Public Safety Management major program is designed to complement the existing technical skills of an individual to include general knowledge, comunication skills, and application of business and leadership practices. The program integrates courses in business administration, communication and leadership to provide the student with the background necessary to be upwardly mobile within the organizational structures of public safety agencies.

      Graduates of the Public Safety Management major program will be equipped to deal with today's changing public safety management needs, and will know how to:

apply basic accounting and fiscal management principles;
demonstrate leadership and management abilities within public sector agencies;
demonstrate written and oral communication skills to appropriate agency situations;
demonstrate critical thinking, reasoning and analytical skills required for decision making;
apply human relations skills appropriate for public safety settings; and
use and apply planning techniques to lead public safety agencies into the future.


 

Program Entry Requirements 

All students who are seeking a bachelor of science degree through the Community College Alliance program of Franklin University first must hold an associate's degree OR have a minimum of 60 semester credit hours/ 90 quarter credit hours with a 2.5 GPA and a high school diploma or GED. All Professional Foundations and Major courses must be completed through Franklin University.

The selection of Business-related elective courses are listed in the Transfer Guide developed for each community college. Students needing such courses for copletion of the 124 semester credit hours of bachelor's degree (which includes 40 semester credit hours of online courses from Franklin University) may select their electives identified for their program of study.
